Summer Apprenticeship Opportunity

The ALMA Summer Institute is now accepting applications for the summer 2021 program.

  • Applicants must be Native American, preferably Pueblo
  • Applicants must be 16-24 years old on June 1, 2021
  • For consideration, applications must be received by 11:59 pm on May 7th, 2021
  • The ALMA Summer Institute is a nine-week program, running from June 3rd through August 6th (with some preliminary work beginning on May 15th )

**This is a paid apprenticeship and a competitive application. Clay experience is recommended, but not required.

ALMA Summer Institute is working on a multi-year project at The Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge. We are looking for applicants, applicants must be Native American, preferably Pueblo. During the program, apprentices will help finalize a large-scale mosaic design on free-standing concrete sculptures, cut tiles from wet clay, glaze and fire tiles, install, and grout the large-scale mosaic mural. Apprentices will also learn valuable job skills, work with talented artists from around Albuquerque, and become part of the greater art community in Albuquerque.
